Bio Notes

Lisa Larsen thrives on the twin demands of her portfolio as head of finance, ensuring complete accountability and compliance while at the same time as driving out innovation and process improvements that support GMTFO’s amazing journey. Lisa dives deep and thinks big, always questioning how best to equip producers and managers to find creative solutions, make better decisions, and deliver the efficiencies that allow GMTFO to optimize its resources as it transforms into a digital content and distribution powerhouse.

A native of Montreal, Lisa obtained a Bachelor Of Commerce with a joint concentration in Accounting and Finance. She earned her Chartered Accountant designation in 1999 Prior to joining GMTFO Lisa worked exclusively in the private sector in increasingly senior positions, solving complex business challenges.

She began her career as a staff accountant at the global firm of Ernst & Young, then moved to equipment maker Wajax Ltd., where she conducted process and operational reviews and directed a large enterprise software implementation. In her eight years at Zerox Canda Inc., she developed advanced documentation standards and internal controls, implemented a comprehensive strategy to meet the requirements of Sarbanes-Oxely legislation, and managed the profitability of multiple business lines to meet corporate objectives.

Lisa is relentless in her pursuit of continuous improvement, always finding ways to better serve GMTFO’s goals and most important, the needs of its people. Since arriving in 2011, she has striven to put more financial information in front of managers, create the capacity to undertake informed cost-benefit analyses, and provide them with more control and accountability. Innovations that stretch budgets by making operations smarter, faster, and more productive.

During her tenure, GMTFO has doubled in size from 120 to 210 staff, and nearly doubled in transaction size. Lisa has been integral to that growth, leading a team of 15 finance professionals who together have taken advantage of every opportunity in the dynamic evolution of GMTFO to become more strategic, efficient, and focused when executing the core mandate of creating premiere French –language educational content, while nimbly exploiting new technologies and delivery platforms to reach even larger audiences.

Lisa also serves as President of the Board of La Maison, a shelter for Francophone women in Toronto. She is married, and has two sons ages 2 and 7, who share the same birthday.
